Archie Bray Foundation
The Archie Bray Foundation, an internationally recognized ceramic works, was founded by Archie Bray, Peter Meloy, and Branson Stevenson in 1951, in the former Western Clay Manufacturing Company yards. C.C. Thurston established the brickyard in 1883 and prominent Helena entreprenuer Nicholas Kessler acquired the property in 1885. In the past 50 years some of the world's outstanding ceramic artists have taught and worked at the Bray, including Rudy Autio, Peter Voulkos, Bernard Leach, and Shoji Hamada.
