Lewis and Clark County Courthouse
One of Montana's most overlooked and underappreciated landmarks, the Lewis and Clark County courthouse served as the territorial capitol from its completion in 1887 to statehood in 1889, then as the first state capitol building until the present capitol replaced it in 1902. A great example of the difference the railroad made in the way Helena looks, its red trim came on the train from Bayfield, Wisconsin. (Photo)
